ABSTRACT

The Mado charrette in April of 2007 was specifically targeted to the development of the third hamlet form and its theme of health and wellness non-residential functions. The five hamlets: The combination of the five hamlets and Crossroads clusters evolve as proximate urban areas creating the larger development whole and sphere of influence, which is referred to as Serenbe Community. The constructed environment is organized by an intentional hierarchal pattern of single-loaded omega spatial organizing forms, and their replication within favorable site locations. The positive health and even high-level wellness outcomes include increasing focus and mental acuity, enhancing presence, grounding or centering, and the reduction of temporal density, anxiety, stress. The initial goals for the project included land preservation, a sensitivity to the existing environment, community formation, integration of the arts, diversity of inhabitants, inclusion of sacred geometry, and a demonstration as a model intentional environmentally oriented development.
