ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the challenges involved in translating for and from a translation that arise from the complex multiple-source, multiple-author and multiple-language situations characteristic of the journalistic environments where news translation occurs. The aim is to help you gain a better understanding of the important role of indirect translation in the global circulation of information and teach you how to produce a translator-friendly text for the news. The chapter also includes some activities on how to select and combine different sources and how to efficiently and ethically adapt an already translated story that includes quoted discourses.
