ABSTRACT

Job Methods Improvement is a four-step method that helps supervisors develop an improvement plan to deliver higher quality patient care more efficiently by making the best use of the people, equipment and supplies now available. To understand the Job Methods Improvement plan, one need to learn and follow the JM four-step method, which is on the JM pocket card. These four steps were all that Kelly used to improve the Date of Surgery Blood Draw. The starting point of all JM improvements is making a job breakdown listing all the details of how a job is currently performed. In Step 2, question every detail of the job that broke down in Step 1. Step 3 of the Job Methods program provides tools that will easily and quickly lead to a better way to do the work. Step 4, apply the new method, insures the success of improvements because it turns ideas into action.
