ABSTRACT

The second chapter analyzes in detail the single divine entities/hypostases of Chaldean doctrine as they appear in the passages from the Chaldean Oracles quoted by Proclus throughout his works. The hypostases of the Chaldean system are described starting from the First Principle and those entities that come right after it (Hecate, Cronus and Rhea, Aion and Time, Iynges – Connectors – Teletarchs) to end with those that are closer to the material dimension (the World Soul and the gods above the ‘zones’ or planetary spheres). Each of them is analyzed separately from the other in order to provide the reader with as much information as possible, by having recourse both to Proclus’ exegesis and to what has been achieved by modern research on the Oracles.
