ABSTRACT

We seek an Earth Ethics on our home planet, a view of ourselves as a unique species on a unique planet. This requires an account of global capitalism, whether the produced benefits are just and fair, whether there are limits to capitalism. Perhaps we are approaching with escalating populations a full Earth. Perhaps with global warming we have on our hands a problem too hot to handle. Is the ultimate environmental ethic a sustainable biosphere, to which science also contributes? Can we conclude hoping for future generations on the planet with promise?
