ABSTRACT

An essential element of leaders is assuring that the goals of the organization are delivered. A well-designed performance management system will maximize the potential of an organization and minimize interferences that get in the way of delivery. To that end, every goal must have a metric, which needs a measure that has a target. Reward systems must align behaviors within an organization while nurturing an environment of support that enhances motivation. Leaders ensure that the behaviors that are desired are those rewarded. They take the steps required to establish goals that align with purpose. They create fair systems to promote trust and transparency.
