ABSTRACT
The way people communicate has fundamentally changed and is in a constant state of reinvention and reinterpretation. As the world designs and embraces new technologies, new ways of doing things open up. The federal government has been involved in the development of innovative technologies for many years. In the late 1950s, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency was established to do this for national security purposes. The importance of gathering and disseminating information to our states, cities, nation, and citizens has continued to be promoted for many years. The Clinton administration embarked on a venture to create accessibility to vast amounts of information that would alter how people live, work, and play. Technology has become an important part of government operations. The increasing use of social media tools has led to the creation of government policies governing their use by employees and residents. A later city-building simulation game called Sim-City was released in 1989.
