ABSTRACT

Organizations operate in a complex, transparent, regulated environment with obstacles, and business leaders must have the tools to mitigate the risks they face and take the necessary actions to protect the company from constant change. Like the writer and young man in the story, the company leader must choose between being an observer and leave things as they are, doing nothing, or acting and protecting their starfish. Problem prevention and resolution is a skill of the effective leader, and success will be driven by excellent planning and execution of the strategy. An entrepreneurial leader must be paranoid, obsessive, and maniac about the risks that surround the company and protect from them as best he or she can so the company can survive. An effective leader designs the organization to face with greater probability of success the risks and dangers to which it is exposed.
