ABSTRACT

Corporate leaders need to promote work environments where everyone feels welcome. The diversity of managers and employees should match the diversity of their community. Organizational leaders must ensure that promotions, performance evaluations, and staff reduction criteria do not discriminate against any race, gender, age, or religion. Corporate leaders must promote and protect diversity, not only because it is the right thing, but because discrimination can generate high reputational and financial costs. Organizational leaders must create spaces where heterogeneous talents can maximize their creativity. Leaders must work to ensure that the corporate culture ensures, throughout the organization, that all employees are heard and valued. Business leaders that foster a work environment that promotes the integration of diversity get a better working environment where there is a culture of tolerance and respect for people and the ideas of others.
