ABSTRACT

Business leaders should be aware the organization also assumes the risk of being punished for acts of harassment by its employees. Konosuke Matsushita was a Japanese businessman, founder of Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd., and one of the most prominent figures in the history of the industry in that country. James Goodnight is an American businessman who in 1976 co-founded the SAS software company and has since been its CEO. His leadership style and the work environment he has created for SAS has been studied by academics and companies. SAS has identified trust as a critical cultural attribute and regularly surveys its employees on elements of trust: communication, respect, transparency and being treated as a human being. Claude Michel Steiner, a French-born American psychotherapist and writer, has said that to develop, humans need stroking. Employees should feel from their bosses they are not only a resource for an end but mainly human beings.
