ABSTRACT

Teachers are key to unlocking student learning strengths and helping their students circumvent weaknesses in knowledge creation—especially, for those students who are challenged with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, comorbidity and twice exceptional situations. The undertaking for the teacher to whom this book is directed is to have a knowledge of the learner including core generic variables that influence knowledge acquisition, as well as having an understanding of the mathematics and literacy curricula in terms of their psychological nature; that is, what cognitive processes are involved in acquiring the literacy and mathematics content. The book content throughout provides the teacher with assessment and instruction activities that acknowledge learners’ strengths—not deficits. Finally, the focus on creative teaching and identifying student creative strengths that support learning makes this book unique.
