ABSTRACT

The humans who colonised Asia crossed a wide variety of environments, and did so under a range of climates that varied from conditions that were roughly comparable (or even a little warmer) than today to ones that were considerably colder. Before looking at each region in detail, we look at the overall climatic and environmental background to the colonisation of Asia, consider how the topography of Asia would have influenced human dispersal, and how climate and climatic changes may have impacted on human groups.
