ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at how to continue life in Iran through immersion in an almost totally different set of cultural references to those that travel across Europe. It comprises children’s stories, myths and histories of nation, ancient literatures, poems, songs and music, theatre, fabrics, and motifs. The chapter demonstrates that the emerging understanding of hybridity took far from the expected difference between the imagined two large national or civilisational ‘cultures’ falsely created by the Orientalist grand narrative. It is well known that Persian carpets have been very present and influential across the Western world; and the designs have become common everywhere. While the experience at the theatre and its associations connected back and forth to the details of everyday life, there was also a television drama that was more obviously to do with the everyday.
