ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a synthesis of the thinking developed throughout the book, which we now interconnect to address one key question: how do we make the visitor economy more age-friendly? The chapter will commence with a discussion of the global drivers of social and economic change through to 2030 that continue to shape the ageing population and influence ageing-consumer trends in the leisure and tourism domain. This is followed by a discussion of the principles of creating an age-friendly environment, and how to implement these principles in the visitor economy through the use of tools such as service blueprinting.
