ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides guidance to the reader and therefore uses a language that is arguably clear to most graduate and undergraduate students, as well as to most researchers. Conceptual Metaphor Theory has established solid empirical grounds for the study of metaphor within a cognitive linguistic framework. The book provides a platform for early career researchers to broadcast their current research through brief videoclips that were shared on various online channels. It summarizes and extends the scope of these four directions, illustrating some of the most recent research conducted within each of them. These directions are: metaphor and linguistic diversity; metaphor and cognitive processing; metaphor and communication; and metaphor and creativity.
