ABSTRACT
Chapter 8, Green Dreams: Reviving the Gardens of Riyadh, aims to dispel the stereotype of the desert city, highlighting the proliferation of urban parks in Riyadh. Initiatives have resulted in the development of green parks, the restoration of urban valleys (wadis) and a greater emphasis on green spaces. Detailed depictions of urban parks and community centres are provided. These vary in scale, type and location but demonstrate the extent by which they are used by city residents and form an indispensable part of their daily life.
