ABSTRACT

The nuclear bomb and the soul seem to be almost contradictions. The bomb on the one hand and psychological reality on the other may each independently be an acceptable topic, but the connecting “as” between them makes this title intolerable. It is relatively easy to defuse the bombs technically. But how to bind their destructive power in such a way that the existence of mankind is not dependent on the contingencies and vicissitudes of our reasonable and peace-loving behavior is an unanswered question. There is one fundamental obstacle that makes it impossible for the time being to find an answer. When psychologists, on the other hand, view the bomb they deal solely with questions such as which repressed complexes made it possible in the first place to invent such an absolutely crazy thing as the bomb, which threatens not only the enemy, but us all.
