ABSTRACT
How do teachers support process-based writing in a thematic unit? In this chapter, we discuss how to design authentic process-based writing assignments and how to support writers in developing the skills to complete these projects. We describe incorporating writing instruction that is fluid rather than rigid as well as taking a look at an example of this process in classroom plans. We share how to assess authentic writing and end this chapter by discussing ways to support all writers and their writing development.
