ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will continue to discuss how to support students’ literacy and content learning, focusing on using writing as a tool for the learning process. Through the use of write-to-learn techniques, we will describe how we can scaffold readers’ comprehension before, during, and after the reading process. We end this chapter by discussing how teachers can add specific write-to-learn techniques to their scaffolding “toolbox” to support both text comprehension and learning for students across the content areas.
