ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the professionalisation that has become an important element of philanthropy. I discuss how this occurs through bringing in questions of social audit and expanding the meaning of the relation between business and social welfare through JRD’s seminal efforts in his organisations. The chapter concludes with a philosophical reflection on the importance of the theme of balance in business as well as in all aspects of living.
