ABSTRACT

The chapter includes emergency response plan, management of emergencies procedure, chemical clean-up plan, emergency protocols, emergency drill log, awareness of the emergency response plan among all employees, and period to initiate response. The role of Emergency Response Team (ERT) is to develop the emergency response plan. The preparation for accidents and emergencies can be managed through several methods. These may include, but are not limited to: orientation classes at induction of new employees, hazard evaluation training, emergency systems evaluation and surveys, training to respond to emergencies, departmental meetings, and emergency scenarios and implementation of appropriate training. ERT should consider the following when considering the appropriate response: detection, reaction, assessment, notification, mobilisation, recovery and resumption.
