ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses design and development of a product. It includes specifications and standards, market requirements, test methods and results, environmental review form, design and development plan form, and risk assessment form. The chapter also defines the project planning software, designing software, test equipment, manufacturing equipment, completion of the project as scheduled, performance of the product, and market performance. Design Team defines organisational and technical interfaces between different functions that contribute to the design and development process and the necessary information is documented, transmitted and regularly reviewed. Marketing and sales personnel identify and document the market’s needs for the new product or service. The contents of this document serve as the input for design and development work. Food Safety Manager should provide instructions for packaging, labelling and storage of the product and carry out necessary tests to assure food safety during all stages of development.
