ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how to manage the infrastructure and work environment. It describes the role of Human resources (HR) manager, engineering manager, logistics manager, and supervisors. The responsibilities of HR Manager are to ensure the provision of a suitable work environment for the staff, to monitor the working conditions and address any issues, to coordinate with the Facilities Manager for any maintenance or expansion work, and to monitor the health and wellbeing of the staff through appropriate health checks such as hearing tests, X-rays, blood tests, etc. Infrastructure needed for the business is identified and acquired as and when the need arises. Since there is a wide range of infrastructure needed, it is not possible to present a comprehensive list. Infrastructure is generally acquired through the purchasing process. For major capital works, such as new facilities to provide additional capacity, a complete project proposal should be submitted to the CEO.
