ABSTRACT

The responsibility of the Human resources manager is to record all leave taken in personal files. The responsibility of the department manager is: to approve or refuse leave and to make arrangements for work during the absence of the employee on leave. For salaried staff, within the first year of employment, a salaried person is entitled to one-and-a-half days per calendar month. After one year, the entitlement increases to three weeks inclusive of statutory holidays. After 10 years of service, a salaried person is entitled to five weeks of annual leave. Requests for annual leave must be made using the leave form and given to the immediate Supervisor at the earliest opportunity. Employees who are ill during a period of annual leave are entitled to treat this as sick leave and count it against the employee’s sick leave entitlement. The employee must provide evidence of illness.
