ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how to perform password management. It describes the role of Information Technology (IT) manager, IT staff, and employees. The responsibility of the IT manager is to request for the password or direct the IT staff to change or clear employee passwords in order to access or protect ABCCL IT resources. The responsibility of the IT staff is: to provide employees with a log-in ID or username and default password to gain access to resources, advise employees to change password every 90 days or more frequently if it has been compromised, not to be responsible for password protection issues of individual files, and to implement the boot-up password process and maintain a record of the password. Passwords are required to access to computer, network and telecommunication resources including network log-in accounts, email, finance, human resources, voicemail and other confidential information.
