ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses electronic file storage and describes the role of the Information Technology (IT) staff. The responsibility of the IT staff is: to request users to delete their unneeded files and to delete inappropriate files that jeopardise network or server functionality and integrity. IT department should create two folders for each user: Individual folder that can be used to store the user’s files; and a group folder that can be used to store the files to be shared by other network users. Files in the group folder can be accessed by a user from any network connected computer that has been granted access rights. Users shall regularly monitor file storage and delete unnecessary files from the network or the computer. Such files may be moved to external storage devices with approval from the IT department.
