ABSTRACT

This chapter offers TAs an insight into the specific aspects of memory and processing that often underlie commonly occurring SpLDs, like dyslexia. In order to support greater attainment and close the gaps between pupils with learning difficulties and their peers, it’s important to understand these underlying issues and how they manifest themselves in the classroom. In understanding and crafting support to address these underlying areas of difficulty, the ‘core deficits’, it’s often possible to address the threat they pose to attainment and achievement.
