ABSTRACT

Simple metrics allow a clear data collection from the process, so the decisions taken are accurate. This process will result in the improvement of running process if it is conducted continuously. This behavior in turn leads to competence, which is the developing ability or capability because of that behavior. Competence will improve behavior to be better. Meaning, there is an interaction between behavior and competence. Behavior makes the focus on the current process running well, while competence makes the focus on the process runs not only in the present but also in the future. To clarify the process end points, a metric is needed. Metrics are indicators of process quality. Metrics must be simple, in the sense that they can be measured by anyone at that moment. Focus on process is further operationalized to reduce waste. Simple metrics are applied on today’s value stream mapping.
