ABSTRACT
Research on IDLE-related topics has flourished during the past decade, as evidenced by a large number of edited books, monographs, special issues of journals, and journal articles. This chapter provides a state-of-the-art overview of IDLE by introducing several similar concepts, with a discussion of its practices as carried out in European, South and North American, North African, and Asian countries, plus more than 80% of its references, which have been published between 2014 and 2020.
