ABSTRACT

Two days after The Business of Good Government was over, Arden and D’Arcy’s third son, Adam, was born. But like Gwalchmei, their first son who had died, Adam was desperately ill. Meanwhile the purpose of their life in Bristol and Brent Knoll had come to a natural conclusion, and Arden’s parents, now living in Knaresborough, urged them to move nearer to them. The cottage at Kirbymoorside proved more of a challenge than Arden had anticipated, and in the end the family lived for more than a year in the two furnished rooms in the cold farmhouse in Full Sutton. Two weeks after the transmission of Wet Fish, Arden and D’Arcy were both caught up in political protest, separately and in new ways. Arden had proceeded to London after the prominent members of the Committee had been banned.
