ABSTRACT

There were a father and son who had very unusual beards. They spent a lot of time together because they lived in the same house and at the back of the house there was a workshop where they made and sold cutlery – knives, forks and spoons. People liked to come to look at the cutlery but they were always more fascinated by the men’s beards. The author want reader to focus on the older man’s beard. Now they are going to focus on the shape of the beard. So choose one side of the older man’s face to look at the beard there. How many hairs can they see – perhaps they could start counting them (pause). Then follow the beard around – look at the different parts of the man’s face it covers. A beard is a bit like a forest; it’s a good place to take a pleasant, relaxing walk.
