ABSTRACT

A fire can give a sense of warmth and comfort, but it can also be a very powerful tool to use in the imagination. However, some children may have had a bad experience with a flame, fire or firework i.e. they have been burnt themselves or seen someone else have an accident. In these circumstances it would not be appropriate to use any of these scripts. It is a sad fact that some very young children have never actually seen a traditional open fire because they are being brought up in homes which have central heating. Some children may not understand what coal or a coal fire is, so the hypnotherapist needs to do some checking out before using Script 1. If the hypnotherapist knows that the child has a log burner in their house then the script can be adapted i.e. replacing the coal fire with the log burner.
