This chapter introduces the Expansive Learning Model, and asks educators to imagine how they can repurpose education. The model reframes the purpose of education as expansion, cultural balance, and building strong, flexible, creative learners, focused on the how of learning, as well as the what. The chapter concludes with a vision of joy in learning as a step toward a new evolutionary path, a life-affirming balance between survival and creativity.
