ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the Back to One as a reminder that you must always go back to the basics when preparing a role, and back to yourself when acting for the camera. Acting for the Camera: Back to One is designed for actors who want to develop skills that will improve their performance on camera, and for teachers who want to empower their students. The idea for this book began over 10 years ago and has been developed with the help of many actors, directors, cinematographers, and editors. Actors are submitting their own self-tape auditions and creating original shows on multiple online platforms. Because they have access to technology, actors can have their projects seen and heard all over the world from their own living room. However, the modern actor must acquire basic skills in lighting, sound, operating the camera, and editing to pursue a career.
