ABSTRACT

This brief chapter introduces acting for the camera technique. It examines the actor’s psychological relationship to the camera and helps the actor see the camera as a tool that must be used to build the performance. Many actors are intimidated by the camera, because they subconsciously want to hide from it and not be seen. The actor must take action when in front of the camera and change their point of view. The chapters in Part Two: The Actor’s World are packed with techniques that can be mastered through repetition, and they will instantly improve performance. The techniques are designed to build the actor’s confidence and show them how to work together with the camera and the editor.
