ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on playing the audition scene. It stresses the importance of preparation and what the casting director may be looking for in the performance. It provides ten audition tips to help you win that cover some of the following topics: creating a believable moment for the character, highlighting the conflict in the scene, playing a strong, text-specific objective, crafting the character arc, relationships, actively listening as the character, playing the transitions in the scene, exploring opposite action choices, and having empathy for the character’s given circumstances and life.
