ABSTRACT

This chapter encourages the actor to find the ideal space for self-tape auditions and form a community of actors to work together. It outlines key aspects for self-taping such as accessibility, the importance of high-quality sound, and ways to create the ideal backdrop. It discusses the proper color for the backdrop, clean backgrounds, how to remove unwanted shadows in your self-tape audition, and equipment. It gives the actor a guide for finding the proper background for their self-tape audition in their own home, classroom, or university dorm room. It examines the color of the background, removing any furniture or distractions, and the proper depth of field.
