ABSTRACT

This chapter defines what an action is for the film and television actor and how to get the action out of the actor’s head and into the scene. It informs the actor how to select actions that avoid them playing the result or outcome of the scene, and it encourages them to find variety in their performance to keep the audience engaged. It supports the concept that the best acting flows like the ocean and is not stagnant like a pond. An example is provided from the movie The Basketball Diaries, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
