ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the book and includes differing perspectives of individual and organisational performance through the design and implementation of a bundle of high-performance work practices, especially in the context of Australian banking and financial services industry. Specifically, it establishes the novelty this book offers in terms of its focus on the relationship between personality types and high-performance work systems for achieving a range of individual and organisational outcomes in knowledge-intensive industries, such as Australia’s banking and financial services. This chapter also highlights the topic of interest along with the problem of high performance using micro- and meso-level theoretical lenses. Finally, we provide an overview of the justification and purpose of this research, the methods employed and the limitations as well as the overall structure of the book.
