What can be done to reduce the scale of pathological obedience?

The final chapter is the most practical in nature of them all – in this chapter, we discuss various ways, techniques, and programs aimed at teaching people to be thoughtful and resistant to manipulation (particularly coming from actual or alleged authority figures). We reflect on the role of assertiveness (Gilbert & Allan, 1994), education of children (Staub, 1970), or of thoughtlessness (Langer, 1987).
