ABSTRACT

In numerous cultures around the world, women are believed to the “weaker sex” (Alesina, 2013) and in any case it is believed that women deserve more caring and protection, also (and perhaps mainly) against physical violence (Heisse, 1998). Despite the wide range of variants of the study, Milgram never tested what would happen if the person to be electrocuted was a woman – and, as our studies demonstrated, the results are far from being obvious.
