ABSTRACT

This conclusion begins by examining the Marvel Cinematic Universe of films based on Marvel superheroes. It looks at how the MCU achieved success by imitating much of the world-building style of Marvel Comics, which can serve as a template to future world-builders. It then categorizes Marvel’s style of world-building into three broad pillars—realism, characterization, and continuity—so as to aid creative world-builders as well as scholars in understanding one particularly successful method that has been employed by Marvel Comics for over fifty years.
