ABSTRACT

Curiously, appeals to the authority of Limperg and Schmidt do not appear to have admitted to the argument the possibility that their ideas may also have lent support to other mechanisms by which accounts might incorporate the effects on firms of price, and (or) price-level changes. Notable in the literature, and in particular in Sweeney’s references to it, is the absence of any explicit injection of identifiably Limpergian thinking. Notable in the literature, and in particular in Sweeney’s references to it is the absence of any explicit injection of anything identified as Limpergian thought. That, of course, doesn’t ensure that Limperg’s ideas did not enter his reasoning. Nor have they attempted to consider the likely consequences of extending what is known of Schmidt’s and Limperg’s reasoning beyond the points at which their work finished.
