ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 illustrates the profound impact of a global pandemic and the lessons learned by our young people. Isolation, loss of friends, loss of school, loss of privacy, quarantine, and much more have left vast repercussions on the mental health of many young people who are overwhelmed with the enormous degree of coping mechanisms needed to come through a difficult time. However, children learned about cleanliness, healthy habits, and care for themselves and the planet. Supporting their natural attributes of resilience helped in the transforming of challenge into flexibility and adaptability. Resources such as Sesame Street, teen websites, COVID quilts, and COVID resources are offered as examples of how to help kids during a traumatic environmental period.
