ABSTRACT

The first part includes a theoretical introduction to energy security framework. This chapter opens with an analysis of the depletable resources exploitation basics, which are crucial to understand specifics of fossil fuel resource base and their economic characteristics. This chapter delivers possible explanations behind the varied understandings of energy security along with the phenomenon evolution since the 1970s. The main body of this chapter constitutes the literature review in the form of scoping and partially systematic approach. The goal of the review is to identify possible research gaps in the energy security (supply and demand) studies. Detected niché on relatively rare economic research in the demand security analysis became the focal point of considerations developed in the second chapter.
