ABSTRACT

Digital forensics is the science used in connection with the detection and analysis of computer and cybercrime. Digital forensics investigators work to uncover and identify the existence of a computer crime by detecting digital artifacts. A digital artifact can be located on a system, hard drive, USB, database, file (email, excel, word, etc.), and images (jpg, bmp, etc.)

Digital forensics has specificalities related to different categories in cybersecurity. These include but are not limited to firewalls, networks, ransomware, cloud, databases, and mobile devices. There is a high demand for Digital Forensic Analysts across all industries. All forensic work is done under the auspices of legal counsel, as the whole process could be subject to discovery or subpoena.
