ABSTRACT

Some researchers have claimed that the ability to learn is perhaps the most important competitive advantage for teams and organizations and that organizations cannot survive in a dynamic and competitive environment without the ability to learn and adapt. Most members will now and then make observations about how the team collaborates and what they would like the individual members to do more of, less of, or differently. Some management teams have established similar types of learning arenas, for instance, spending the last part of the team meeting evaluating how the meeting went. After having identified the errors and smart moves the team has made, the members must address in depth the episodes from which something can be learned. The performance of teams working with complex decision-making is heavily influenced by the degree to which the members practice team learning or reflexivity.
