ABSTRACT

The introductory chapter sets out the structure of the book and discusses the rationale for the development of the notion of knowledgeable practice and its relevance to educational thinking and educational activities. As part of this discussion there is a reflection on the pursuit of both truth and truthfulness in the context of educational enquiry. The chapter also briefly introduces some of the underpinning questions relating to debates about knowledge and practice in education, as a prelude to deeper exploration in the subsequent chapters.
