ABSTRACT
Economic discourse needs to find ways to look beyond the concepts that we inherited from the twentieth century and focus on new economic approaches that promote the importance of sustainability. This chapter explores new models of operating that are already taking hold across the world: the sharing economy, the platform business model, the impact economy, the circular economy (including the Cradle to Cradle and industrial symbiosis concepts), and social enterprises.
