ABSTRACT

Logistics is the management of the movement of goods, whereas supply chain management covers the many other areas. But logistics is a part of supply chain and that means whoever manages the supply chain will be responsible for managing freight forwarders, shipping companies, parcel delivery companies, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers. The supply chain constantly changes and that will affect any logistics organization. To adapt to the flexibility of the supply chain, companies should develop and implement a formal logistics strategy. An organization can start to develop a logistics strategy by researching four distinct levels of their logistics organization. The four distinct levels are: strategic, structural, functional and implementation. A successfully implemented logistics strategy is important for companies that are dedicated to keeping service levels at the highest levels possible despite changes that occur in the supply chain.
